About Me

I’m a mixed-race, multi-passionate writer, comedian, and content marketing expert based in Sheffield. I’m also an INFP, an Enneagram 4, Leo Sun and Virgo Moon + Rising, and given the opportunity, will talk your ear off about the Sims.

whimsicella as a *brand* started when I set up a blog in 2012. Through blogging, I learnt about SEO and basic web design, as well as how to use social media to direct people to my lil corner of the internet. This passion for writing and the internet turned into a decade-long career in content marketing for various corporations and SMEs. When the pandemic hit, I took a chance on self-employment…

Now, I help misfit creatives, solopreneurs, and small business owners feel seen + heard in their content, and tell their stories in a way that connects with their people.

Here’s what’s up

I am chronically online (please don’t ask me about my screen time), and while that has it’s downsides (my mum was right about the square eyes…), it DOES mean that I know a thing or two about what kind of content works. You don’t have the be everything, everywhere, all at once… but you DO need to display genuine JOY for what you do and find a platform that works FOR YOU… and I believe I can help with that.

When you started your own business, you probably didn’t set out to become a marketing expert. What if I told you that you didn’t have to be? Because I am! DIYing your content can be fun, but also exhausting with everything else you have to do. Partner with me, and you can focus on the other parts of your business you love, while I create some BANGIN’ content for you :)

I make sense of the world through the written word, and I love helping others find joy through words, too.

I have been writing ever since I was given a pink Barbie typewriter on my eighth birthday. Writing on it gave me such incredible joy, but what really made me fall in love with stories was the Sims 2. Yes, the PC game! I loved creating albums of my Sims families, writing captions with intricate storylines under each photo, and sharing them with other writers and Sims-lovers.

Growing up, I always had several notebooks scattered across all corners of the house, filled with novel ideas, poetry, and journal entries (and storylines for my Sims, lol). And now, the internet is my journal—but don’t worry, I still have an unhealthy amount of physical notebooks around the house!

As well as content writing for my job, I write in my spare time, too. I’m currently trying to complete the draft of my first novel (please ask me about it so I stay accountable!)
