uhm… what is a whimsicella?

Hi 👋🏽 that’s me—Ella!

I’m a mixed-race, multi-passionate writer, comedian, and content marketing expert based in Sheffield. I’m also an INFP, a 5/1 Manifestor, an Enneagram 4, with a Leo Sun and Virgo Moon + Rising. Given the opportunity, I WILL l talk your ear off about the Sims 🤓

whimsicella as a *brand* started as a blog in 2012, writing about life on the internet (with, let’s be real, questionable graphic design choices). That blog taught me everything—SEO, basic web design, how to write ways that made people care. That curiosity turned into a decade-long marketing career working with brands of all sizes on their content.

Then the pandemic hit, and like a lot of people, I had a “what am I actually doing with my life?” moment. So, I bet on myself and went full-time with my own business. Best decision ever.

Now, I help misfit creatives, solopreneurs + small business owners finally feel good about their content—by turning overthinking into effortless, personality-packed copy that clicks with their audience.

Here’s what’s up

I am chronically online (please don’t ask me about my screen time), and while that has it’s downsides (my mum was right about the square eyes…), it DOES mean that I know a thing or two about what kind of content works.

You don’t have to be everything, everywhere, all at once but you DO need to display genuine JOY for what you do and find a platform that works FOR YOU… and that’s where I come in.

When you started your own business, you probably didn’t plan on becoming a marketing expert, too. What if I told you that you didn’t have to be? That’s my job!

You’ve got enough on your plate—so let me take the content stress off your hands and create some BANGIN’ content that sounds like you (but better).

I make sense of the world through writing, and I love helping others find joy through words, too.

I’ve been writing ever since I got a pink Barbie typewriter for my eighth birthday. That thing was my prized possession. But what really made me fall in love with storytelling? The Sims 2. Yep. I’d spend hours creating elaborate family sagas, writing intricate captions for their photo albums, and sharing them with other players (Honestly, some of my best work, lol).

Growing up, I always had notebooks everywhere, half-full of novel ideas, poetry, and journal entries (and, of course, my Sims storylines). And now, the internet is my journal… but don’t worry, I still have an unhealthy amount of physical notebooks lying around the house.

These days, when I’m not helping business owners with their content, I’m writing my own. I’m currently working on my first novel (please ask me about it so I actually stay accountable).

If you’re looking for a creative, chaos-friendly partner-in-rhyme to help you with your content, I’m your gal. Let’s make your words work for you!
