Redefining Success and Creativity Beyond Capitalist Expectations, with Kalyl Kadri

In this episode, I speak to Kal, a Brazilian-Lebanese creative based in Barcelona.

A storytelling Swiss Army knife, Lebanese/Brazilian Kalyl is a theatre kid turned copywriter. He founded Words Hurt, a copywriting & branding agency, to help build brand stories that flirt with danger and kick boring in the teeth.

In this episode, Kal shares about his journey from theater to copywriting and the creative influences that shape his business. We also explore childhood creativity, the therapeutic nature of art, and the societal pressures brought on by capitalism (we touch on this A LOT).

We also share our opinions and experiences about how most people are creative, and why it's important to pursue creative hobbies for personal fulfillment, rather than for public consumption or falling into the self-development spiral.

Topics we covered:

[04:33] From Theatre to Copywriting

[14:49] Creativity as a means for Self-Discovery

[23:15] The Importance of Hobbies

[28:33] The Divine Nature of Creativity

[32:52] Taking Inspiration from Unconventional Sources

[49:23] Embracing Your Inner Creative
